It doesn't even matter if the band were minor in their day: slowcore minimalists Codeine barely even cracked cult status, yet their recent reformation earned plenty of attention and some prime festival spots. Afghan Whigs were welcomed back like conquering heroes, even though, the first time around, the whole point was that they're weren't huge; both band and their fans suffering through the alternative revolution with a giant chip on their shoulder.
And this trend shows no signs of slipping, this an undeniable phenomenon of an era obsessed with retromania. There's always history to dig up all over again, even if it seems like there's few bands left who haven't actually reformed. Which lead me to a question that deserved to be answered: Who'll never reform? Who'll resist the siren's song? Who'll turned down the filthy lucre? Who'll deny the collective thirst of nostalgia?
There's only a handful of bands, but they exist. Bands like Galaxie 500, whose ex-members (well, at least some of them) have made it plenty clear that the old gang's not getting back together. Not ever. Let us give thanks for these blessed few, then: the Top 10 Bands Who'll Never Reform...
