Top 10 Tuesdays 2012 Polaris Music Prize Nominees

Grimes' Visions is my album of the year. Will it be all of Canada's?

The annual Polaris Music Prize is Canada's top gong for recorded music; awarding $30,000 in filthy lucre to the album —and artist— deemed most deserving. With past winners including Final Fantasy, Fucked Up, and Arcade Fire, there's credibility in the award's seven year history, and the 2010 win for some semi-unknown Francophone band named Karkwa showed that a winner could be utterly unexpected.

There's no Francophone nom amongst the ten acts competing for this year's Polaris; but there is Grimes (pictured!). And Feist. And Fucked Up (again). And Japandroids. And, awesomely, Yamantaka//Sonic Titan. So, who will win? Who is a legit contender? Who's a mere pretender? You've come to the right place.

Let's break down the whole Short List, act by act, album by album. Top Ten style! With a list-makin' look at the 10 Nominees for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize...
