After the hushed, chamber-music recital of 2009's You Are the One I Pick, the newly-pressed second LP for Chua's duo-turned-trio, Oh Holy Molar, has a little more sass and swagger; with the ambient guitar drawl, scrawls of cello, and plaintive piano now backed by percussion and rhythmic drive, now pushing towards something resembling pop.
"Oh Thee 73" serves as a statement of this change, and, thus, is presented as lead single. Though it isn't the LP's title-track, it picks up on its lyrical totem, and the verse, herein, that riffs on Oh Holy Molar's title is sweet piece of lyrical poetry from Chua, that turns bodily decay into intimate fantasy into musical expression. "Oh holy molar/you can be my saviour/I will thread you on a string/and wear you as a treasure/under my jumper/under my jumper/the bass beats down/and the drums get bigger."
Felix, "Oh Thee 73"
