New Cat Power Album Sun Out September

Cat Power has announced the release date for her long-awaited new album. Sun will be released, on Matador of course, come September 4. It marks the first LP of material written by Chan Marshall since 2006's The Greatest.

Though mixed by Phoenix associate Philippe Zdar, the album was produced by Marshall herself, recorded in a range of studios over the globe. That sense of wanderlust informs first single "Ruin," a tale of endless traveling creating a sense of dissatisfaction. Just cast in the most upbeat colors Cat Power's ever worn.

If we're to take "Ruin" as holding the key to the new LP, the song promises that Sun will be working with plenty of new sounds and sentiments. So, amp up that expectation, September comes soon...
