The song lurches to life in abstract rhythms: with cute sci-fi blips giving way to staggering single-note guitar, locomotive percussion click-clacks, and Peter Hook-ish bass. It has the feeling of pulling itself to life against all odds: sentient life rising out of the primordial mire; shared humanity out of the digital dystopia; melody out of discordance.
In some ways, the component parts sound wholly separate, with a sense of tension present in the way they never quite cohere. Yet, somehow, in the same measure, they sound perfectly together; Grass Widow having never been as tight, as precise, as all over every note as this.
Grass Widow, "Goldilocks Zone"
